I've got a V1 30, and a V2 50. If I were you, I would go with a V2. One big problem with the V1 that I find, is that the tail gear uses a set screw to hold the gear to the shaft, rather than a pin that goes threw the whole shaft. This isn't a problem if you can auto, and you are high enough to be able to auto, but if your upside down close to the ground, your pretty much scrwed.
that is incorrect, the V1 in the 30 had a press fitted pin through the pulley and the shaft, it was the 60 V1 that had a non pressed in pin that was held in with a set screw through the center of the output shaft. the only problem I've ever had out of either of the V1 30s I've got is the stock tail rotor hub, the blade grips are held in with a nut on a lengthy set screw through the bearings and hold the hub to the shaft, these set screws were notorious for breaking and slinging a tail blade. 99% of the time you only lost one which just caused some very unwanted tail response from the gyro and boom bouncing till you got hold hit and autoed it in. the fix is to get a 1 piece tail hub. i've heard of people reversing the main grips but i've never done it to mine and they both fly perfectly and have for the past 6 or 7 yrs, one is an upgraded to a 50 version but this was made long before TT even came out with a 50 upgrade kit or for that matter a Raptor 50 of any sort.
