I have a ST 2300 in mine and when I go vertical it goes up a long ways. I'm not good enought to hover and all the 3D stuff yet, but I feel it is not enough power to do what you want. On the other hand my plane comes in at about 13#.

So to make a long story short, if you try to keep it as light as possible the engines you are considering should be ok.

With the ST 2300 I ended up adding about 1 1/4oz to the tail and could have probably stuck the rudder servo in the tail instead of the extra weight.
