Default RE: fire extinguisher

A short blast of CO2 puts the fire out, and doesn't "cold shock" anything. Not enough temperature decline inside the turbine to notice. Just more urban legends....
"Condensate the electronics"? What does that mean?
"The pysical process by which the liquid is removed from a vapor or vapor mixture" If you see condensation forming, then the fire must have gone out.
Would you rather have a small amount of condensation, or a cremated receiver crystal?
A one or two-second blast is all it takes to engulf and smother the fire. No residuals, no condensation on anything....been there, done that.

A full five pound CO2 bottle weighs five pounds more than an empty one.....it's pretty easy to detect the presence, or lack of the agent just by hoisting it. That's one reason to explain the lack of a pressure gauge. If you have CO2 in the bottle, you have "built in" pressure. A Halon or Halatron bottle, unless I'm totally off base, requires the presence of a propellant, just like a rattle can does to dispense the agent. That's why the have a pressure gauge. A leaking Halon bottle leaks the propellant and the Halon....so much for the environment. We will all drown when the polar ice caps melt. Putting out your fire will drown all of us.

The now worthless Halon or Halatron bottle, as worthless as it's empty CO2 brethren, costs lots more to recharge....a five pound CO2 bottle can be recharged for a ten-spot. Earlier, I mentioned the $400.00 receipt for the 13 Lb. Halon bottle. Halon bottles require pressure checking and cleaning prior to refilling and charging, so there ain't no free lunch with that container, either. You do the math, and make up your own mind.
Go to a jet meet, and you will probably see more CO2 than any other type.

CO2 fire extinguishers have never been blamed by the greenies for global warming either.
