I wonder if the ignition module box in your airplan is wrapped with foam.

I did that for a long time and have the same problem you experienced. Recycling ig. battery helped a little bit. After I re-installed the module (with only a piece of foam between the module and the firewall), the problem is gone completely. Looks like preventing the module box from cooling quickly is the main cause of the problem.
