Sig Senior ARF Suggestions?
Hi Al, You can leave the horiz. stab where it shows on the plans, and move the vert. stab back so that it is even with the horiz. stab. Then get some 3" wide X 5/8"{ I think thats the thickness} sheet balsa and build a new elevator. Make it split , by that I mean two pieces held together in the center by a dowel. You will also use the same sheet balsa to make a new rudder, it should extend below the the elevator and hinge into the aft part of the fuse. It is easiest to exit the push rods thru the sides of the fuse. I have seen several SENIORS where the tail wheel is connected to a wire up through the fuse. and into the rudder. I didn't like this. Put a piece of 1/8th lite-ply on the bottom of the fuse. and add a Sullivan tail wheel, works great. On the ARF I cut a couple of inches off the rear fuse, moved the horiz. stab forward and aligned the vert. stab. to it. I think it makes the plane look better. Hope this is some help, good luck. Joe
