That .82 is a GREAT engine. I have one in my UCD .46. They will run very rich for the first gallon or so. Sounds like you can start leaning it out quite a bit. It's the low-end that is likely causing the gook. Lean the low-end, then lean the high-end a bit. That will get you close. Then you will need to tune them both to get it running properly. You will have far less oil coming from the exhaust and it should idle around 2k, the top end should be near 10k, but not much over that.
Also, what fuel are you using and what prop are you turning?
I have mine mounted inverted and cowled. It runs great and I start it with a chicken-stick every-time. I run 10% nitro / 18% castor/synthetic blend.
