I think the original carb is oversized. Won't run well unless the muffler is restrictive, or use a pump or regulator. Otherwise the carb is excellent.
I have heard that the carbs were decent. I went to the 7d because it was all that I could find for this motor. My ASP carb broke from overtightening the pinch bolt.
