Well, I have JR XF421EX 5 channel radio, it came with Mustang P51 PTS by hangar 9. I love JR, I dont say Futaba is not good, Futaba is used by one of the best fliers but what I learned that your first radio becomes your last, but not all the time, people do switch from JR to Futaba, but once again its the matter of preference. I love JR and would continue to use that. I had a plan to buy their 6 channel PCM XP6102 but I have changed my mind as JR is releasing one of the new 7 channel coolest PCM PPM Radio X7202 at starting price which is $329.99 with R790 scanning Receiver model, I have a plan to buy it. As Im also newbie in this hobby, but this 7 channel radio for some little experience newbie who are independent from buddy box and do solo flights, this new radio which is due in June 2006 is best choice.
