I have been flying the PTS Mustang and now have bought another plane to try. I purchaced a JR XP6102 PCM radio. It came with 4 servos and i tried to buy a 5th. They are on back order. The question that i have is what other brands are compatable with jr. I am also going to have to buy a switch because i got JRs switch with the charge port and it is to big. I could wait until they come off backorder but i don't know when that will be.
Also the plane that i am building is a small version of the mini edge. Yes i know that it is a little more advanced than what i need but there are some good guys at the club that will gladly take me 3 mistakes high and buddy with me to show me some pointers. My question is the instructions have no CG info. (i bought it off ebay, great buy, Terrible Instructions, WILL NOT DO THAT AGAIN) In a case like this what am i to do. It is going to have a .15 OS LA in it.

Any servo without the "Futaba tab" on it's connector will plug into a JR radio and work. I use Hitec servos all the time because they usually are lighter for the same power output and have worked very well for me. And their universal connector works with every kind of RX or plug. Hitec also has a good switch harness. They also have a wide range of servos available, and usually are priced a couple of dollars less.
Their HS55 is one of the best for small electrics (and is only $14).
The HS81 is one of the best for gliders and smaller power planes (and is only $18).
Thier HS225 is about the best of that size and is about the most powerful in that size (and is about $21).
And they have 3 or 4 standard size that are about a tenth of an ounce or so lighter than most standards (and range from $9-$15).... although I usually blow off using standard size servos and use the HS225 and save about a HALF OUNCE per servo and have the same power as a standard.

BTW, I fly JR transmitters and use mostly JR receivers (some Hitec RXs) and mostly either Hitec servos or the JR Sport servos. Most hobby shops have the JR Sport sales display on their counters. There is a good RX on that display, btw. It's the RS610/RS610UL. Good price, good size.
Matter of fact, the RS610UL is a good choice for small models.

Darock,
I have the X421 in the JR that came with the PTS. I just decided to stay with JR. There are 42 in the club that i joined and there is only me and one other fellow that use JR. The two best flyers use Futaba, I just like the look and feel of the JR. I hope that i made a good choice!!

You did,
JR is my choice too, but all of the top 3-4 radios are excellent. If you are looking for another servo, You can use just about any servo for throttle. Since there is only one throttle servo, it won't need to match any of the others.
Good Luck!!

Well, I have JR XF421EX 5 channel radio, it came with Mustang P51 PTS by hangar 9. I love JR, I dont say Futaba is not good, Futaba is used by one of the best fliers but what I learned that your first radio becomes your last, but not all the time, people do switch from JR to Futaba, but once again its the matter of preference. I love JR and would continue to use that. I had a plan to buy their 6 channel PCM XP6102 but I have changed my mind as JR is releasing one of the new 7 channel coolest PCM PPM Radio X7202 at starting price which is $329.99 with R790 scanning Receiver model, I have a plan to buy it. As Im also newbie in this hobby, but this 7 channel radio for some little experience newbie who are independent from buddy box and do solo flights, this new radio which is due in June 2006 is best choice. This new JR X7202 can be viewed at
