Yep, liteply is poplar of some form. Aircraft plywood is birch or beech. Door skins are commonly luan (cheap man's mahogany) if they are reddish colored or birch or maple over a softer core if they are cream colored. Luan is typically quite even textured but the maple or birch door skins commonly only have one good layer and the center and back are junk woods with lots of faults.
Poplar is soft and brittle. It's stonger than balsa and lighter than aircraft plywood but balsa will flex without breaking a lot more than the liteply with tends to shatter if you crash even lightly.
