Default diffrence between light ply and cmmercial ply??

hello

For some years i have been using standard ply for building fuselage, i wanted to know basically what is the diffrence between the light ply and the standard ply, and also the colour of light ply is cream, i have tried looking for light colour standard ply but they are not available here, they all come in light brown colour, basically what kind of skin is used for the light ply manufacturing.

lite-ply is sometimes called "Italian poplar", since that is usually what its made from. Its 3 plys. Aircraft plywood is made of birch and usually is 5-7 plys depending on the thickness.
It is somewhat heavier, but very much stronger. Another material is "doorskins". I've never used this, but I think it is 3-ply birch.

Yep, liteply is poplar of some form. Aircraft plywood is birch or beech. Door skins are commonly luan (cheap man's mahogany) if they are reddish colored or birch or maple over a softer core if they are cream colored. Luan is typically quite even textured but the maple or birch door skins commonly only have one good layer and the center and back are junk woods with lots of faults.

Poplar is soft and brittle. It's stonger than balsa and lighter than aircraft plywood but balsa will flex without breaking a lot more than the liteply with tends to shatter if you crash even lightly.
