Well the servos would be over kill, In sportsman you could go with a good coreless BB servo and you don't need that much muscle for the surfaces. As far as the battery a Nicad would be fine I would not do anything less than a 800 mah pack and that should get you thru a day at a contest of 3-4 flights per day. As far as the pipe I'm sure someone else acn help, I fly electric
