Default RE: Chip Hyde's Cap-X - Building & Flying

Hi Alfourbe,

I'm sorry but I'm unable to tell you where to buy the CAPX in Europe for less than 500 Euros. Maybe you can find some store but I don't know where. I bought mine from my usual one in Madrid, who contacted an importer in UK and it was brought under special order. The price was about 500 Euros aproximatelly. In my flying field lot of pilots where interested but the decided not to order when they knew the difference in price compared with Chyp Hide's web. In my opinion, it's too much expensive morever when there are other excellent planes at least here in Spain (Marcelo Colombo's planes under brand Camodel, Aerokevlar, etc, etc.....), at very competitive prices.

Related to engine, I've been breaking in my Saito FA220a Zeus this weekend using a test stand. I have used a Mentz prop 19x8 and consumed 4 full 24 oz tanks, glow 16% nitro and 20% sinthetic oil. I was surprised by the low level of vibration. The engine runs very smoothly even a very low rpm. It idles very well. I've ordered a tachometer that I hope to use next weekend for more accurate measurements. The tricky point was the starting. The engine has a big amount of torque, and even using an electric starter it's not an easy task. When trying to start by hand, lot of care must be taken so the engine tends to be extremelly violent and the movement of the prop will be much faster that you moving away the hand starter.

It seems very easy to loose the nut, so pay attention and be careful with the fingers !!!

Once started, the engine runs smoothly.

Regards,
