Yes, and a powered glider is an excellent idea for a first plane--something like the Goldberg Electra or Great Planes Spectra(?). They come with a basic motor, but no radio. You will need at least one 1200-1700-Mah NiCad battery, and some way to charge it. You can fly it at your local flying field, or really any wide open flat area (as long as safety and interference issues are satisfied).
