RE: Goldberg Extra....again
Sorry to hear of your loss. I too messed up about 6 weeks ago and flew my 11 year old CG Extra into the ground at full throttle. All that was left was the last 24 to 30 inches of the fuse. I also ordered a new kit the same day and found that the new kit had many problems. I guess Lanier has never built one of these new kits. I found the same misalignment of the ribs to the plans. Thats ok but the last rib was a full 1/8 inch short. I just extended it. The biggest problem I found was the wing saddle doesn't fit the wing at all. I added balsa sheeting and sanded to fit the wing. This probably changed the incedence of the wing to the horiz. stab as on the first flight I had to add lots of up elevator to get it to fly level. This is my third CG Extra with the first two being by the real Goldberg. After the trim flight and getting rid of some of the jitters left over from crashing the previous one, it flys just like the crashed one, which had over 500 flights on it when it went in. Your new one should be as fine as the last one.
Good luck with it.
