I always give mine a spray of windex, dry them off with a paper towel, put them over my plane stand, and use them again next time I fly. If it breaks when it goes on, I replace it with a new one. I've had 2 or 3 snap in flight, but when there's 12 rubber bands on, it doesn't present a problem. Replace the ones that break before the next flight.
