Default RE: Ultimate Maiden FINALLY

The key to the high rate spin entries and exits is the C/G location. I found that with an extremely aft C/G (7-1-2") the plane did not want to exit a flat spin and recovery was a very iffy thing. You had to work hard to get out of it. With the C/G at a max of 6-34" it will pretty much fly itself out of it if left alone.

Another item of note is that this Ultimate does not require but about 1/2 the amount of rudder travel that anything else does. For normal average speed K/E flight it takes less than 1/4" of deflection to hold the plane anywhere you want it to go. If you go to high rate rudder and have more than about 30 degrees you will perform one of the prettiest rudder only snap rolls you'll ever see. Too much rudder and you will have to work on some mixes to balance things out. It's easier to just have a little less travel and end up doing more, easier. I was out with mine today and detuned everything except elevator for better control and less sensitivity in 3D types of flying.

For an easy "elevator" without having to go high just go to max rate elevator, cut the throttle, wait for it to slow down and feed in full elevator quick enough to pitch up but slow enough not to balloon. She'll start to drop straight down with zero wing rock. To harrier, just add power and pitch to suit. Harrier rolls rquire a bit of learning the roll rate but are pretty easy after you do. She responds extremely well to high rate aileron control in a hover. The only problem in a hover is that she climbs so easily. I only have a 3.2 so you guys with the larger engines must have to tie a rope to the tail.
