moki 1.8 flame out
I have a moki 1.8 in a midwest cap 232, 80". The Cap was built by Mike Ramsey and on the cover of flying models in 97.....I purchased it from Mike 3 years ago.
The fuel tank is 24 oz, and I'm using FAI fuel with a cline regulator and an OS 8 plug with an 18 x 8 carbon fiber prop.........and pitts muffler
the motor runs fine on the ground...smooth idle, really smooth for this thing and transition is great and top end is right on spec for motor / prop accoring to article by clarence lee.
just rebuit the cline regulator per thread on RCU........no heat problems.....and NO lean runs
problem is in a humpty bump, large loop, hanner head....it either coughs or dies........
now being this motor is supplied by a pressured system......I wouldn't have believed this could happen..............first things first..............checked fuel by changing the jug.....easiest........checked the clunk.........no problem there...........the hole on the cline to equalize the bladder is open....fuel lines are OK.......
If I fly real easy....rolls, knife edge, small loops, and 4 point rolls it taxis back to the pitts.....but turn inverted and do an immelman and look out...........
I'm beginning to think I'm missing something real simple.....
any suggestions are appreciated
