Default Engine for trainer?

"I also fly off of grass. I started out with a OS 40 LA. Not enough power and a crappy engine IMO. "

I disagree, and think they are great engines. Set up properly, they are the most reliable engines out there. As most engine problems are fuel or fuel system related, I think that must have been your problem. If you had low nitro fuel and high grass, I can see you having a problem. With 15% fuel, I've always had enough power. For trainers they're perfect, as you don't want to be screaming through the sky. People get used to the planes faster when they are going slower.

I too love the 46 FX, but I think bushing engines are the best choice for first time flyers.
