If they are carbon tube landing gear instead of wire, that is the same approach used in the UltraRC Giles 29% ARF. From the pictures I saw of the Giles, it looked pretty light but distributed landing loads across and thru the fuselage pretty well. Each tube was supported in three places in the fuselage.
