Crash, have you ever noticed that a lot of guys at the field spend most of their time simply flying their own models and basically ignore the newbies? Have you noticed the hard-core competition fliers generally have little concern for others outside their own interests?

I am very happy to say NO to both. I have seen some really bad things here in this area. Maybe its a Missouri thing to help out someone when you see a need. There are 2 other clubs that I am close to their membership. It appears that they have the same concept of get - er - done that we do.

I can not understand a RC airplane club that when a new flyer appears, they don't want to help them. I have found myself flying profiles 95% of the time but I am happy to help with a new flyer and or their trainer, Warbird, and so on. I can only say it is a shame to read about clubs that have problems like this. The AMA has placed this as one of the 3 main causes of saftey issues on a report I read last year.

I think it is real simple. When you have a club of non flyers, you end up with people that has changed their hobby from flying to running a club. We have only 1 meeting per year and several flying events. (Membership around 60 or so.) No one gets mad. Well we did talk about how short should we cut the grass once. Why can we have such a great club body while others have so many bad times at their clubs?
