Default Rascal 110 Engine

Sean, I am presently in the process of mounting a 3W-24 on my new Rascal. I think this is going to be a great engine for this plane as it requires a very narrow engine in order to prevent cutting up that nice looking cowl excessively. Even with this engine it looks like I will have to cut out a hole on the left side for the muffler to clear. I will be using one of the mufflers designed for the 3W-48 twin as it is narrower than the pitts style normally used with this engine and a bit more compact. If a "straight" exhaust stack could be fabricated to allow a small side exit, this would be about as "good as it gets" although somewhat loud. Engine performance should be better though. I had originally bought a Zenoah G26 for this plane, but it is too wide necessitating the cutting of both sides of the cowl. It is a pity that the firewall is not about 6 inches wide as that would make engine selection a snap. Oh, well........

Good luck with the project. This is one good looking airplane!
