I wouldn't spend too much time worrying about the equipment since the first several times you go to the track is really a learning experience. What I would say is to go to the track first and talk to the other racers to see what all the buzz is about. Usually most clubs will allow rtr's to run with the engine they came with so you probably wouldn't have to get a new motor. It is only when you replace it they will usually require you get a race legal .12. Other than that you just need a set of tires. Again just talk to some guys and ask what they're running. That will be your first big step to getting started. After that it's mostly driving. Just go and have fun. If you ever need anything feel free to ask, there are always people willing to help.
