I have a Jato and i have been driving it for awhile. im kinda getting sick of just bashing around. I want to get into racing now because it seems like a lot more fun and has some competition. I was wondering what i should do to get into racing with my Jato. I have to figure out what classes they have at the track near me to see if i need to change the motor or not. I was also wondering how i would keep from getting radio interference at the track. What stops someone from interfering with my car and causing me to crash while practicing? Also any other tips to get me starting racing would be helpfull thanks.

I wouldn't spend too much time worrying about the equipment since the first several times you go to the track is really a learning experience. What I would say is to go to the track first and talk to the other racers to see what all the buzz is about. Usually most clubs will allow rtr's to run with the engine they came with so you probably wouldn't have to get a new motor. It is only when you replace it they will usually require you get a race legal .12. Other than that you just need a set of tires. Again just talk to some guys and ask what they're running. That will be your first big step to getting started. After that it's mostly driving. Just go and have fun. If you ever need anything feel free to ask, there are always people willing to help.

Most tracks have a frequency board check it or get a Spektrum radio and you will never have to worry about interference Biggest thing is practice, practice and more practice. The vehicles are only about 10% of winning and the other 90% is the driver. The biggest thing as far as setting up your truck is tires. I would just go to the track talk to others and practice. When you first start running do not try to be fast just try making it around the track with out crashing. Then as you get better start speeding up a little at a time. Any basher that thinks he is a good drive put him or her on a track and they well see different. I all most quite messing with my RC stuff till they open a local track now bashing is not even in my vocabulary. But that is just me.

R/C Madness is often mentioned in RCCA (it that is where you're going), they do a lot of tests there plus they have the RCCA Monster Madness race every year. Congratulations on joining the racing community! Most people get hooked their first time out. Be sure to check back and let us know how you did! [8D]

Just get all the practice you can get. Practice makes perfect, and I also suggest talking to everyone at the track and seeing whats up's and what other guys are running at the track with there jato's. I would not suggest getting the best of equipment as you just have to get time in on the track just to even see if you like the racing scene.
Buts thats just me. But remember some times to go faster you need to go slower. But do not go out and expect to set the world on fire as it will take time ofr you to get used to it.
If I can think of any more things ill get back

If and when you do race, you'll beat half of the people at the track if you manage just to keep the truck running. Heck, in endurance races that's all you try to do. If you keep it running, you'll get in more laps than the people who bobble and wreck one or twice a lap.

first of all pratice does not make perfect. If your praticing the wrong stuff then you'l never be good. you have to pratice things right to be perfect so thats why i say perfect pratice makes perfect. It sounds kind of dumb but if you think about it, its really true.
Dont worry about the speed of your car. I've beat people with rtr rustler when they had a t4. they thought they would crush me but they couldnt drive at all. Just go out and have fun. Thats what the hobby is all about anyway right. $$$
