RE: New pilot needs advice.
We would like to help you get restarted but your questions require that we know about specific motors and planes that are not familiar to many. In general terms if the 3d Buddy weighs 15 ozs a 100 to 150w motor will do the job. A 3 cell lipo pack puts out 12v takes 8 to 12 v to get the watts rqd. Your TP1320 3 cell is a good pack and will handle short runs up to 200 or more watts. I figure TP 1320 batteries are good for planes up to about 24 ozs but that may be pushing it. I have a Hacker 20-22 on a 23 oz Copperhead Extra that I fly with the TP1320s and the plane will accelerate straight up. Of course you have to watch how much prop load you run with a particular motor/esc/battery combo. I run a 10x5 on the Hacker. You can probably run a larger prop on the geared motor. Eg I run a 12x6 on a HIMAX 2015-4100 with 6.6:1 gears on a 15 oz plane.I have to decrease the prop to 10x6 with 5:1 gears. So its all a little messy. If you have questions fire away.
