I am in process with the same kit. I was pretty worried about the hingeing process as a newbie to kit building. After my first attempt at cutting a slot I chickened out and bought a "Slot Machine" and the little jig that should be in the box with it. The rest of the slots were done in about 30 minutes.

The CA hinges seem to flop about with very little bending resistance at this point. I imagine that they would stiffen up a bit when the CA is applied, but I think they are going to work out fine!
