The 40 La is a rear needle but that does not make any difference as far as how you penetrate the side of the fuse. just the location. Second make sure you don't use the rubber band method of attaching the wings. They BREAK,.we use plastic wire ties and then snip them off, REALLY epoxy the hooks into the wings well and make sure you glue the rear wing dowel in well. I agree that the 4o LA is woefully inadequate for this plane. I have a 80 GK Saito in mine. Maybe a little much but balanced well and has unlimited vertical. I think from the sound of your questions that this plane might be a little too much for you at this point.
