Default RE: Seagull Models EP Extra 300

Well, I went with the manual recommended throws, and it cost me. DO NOT FOLLOW THE MANUALS RECOMMENDED THROWS. If you do, it will crash.
3/16 on ailerons as they recommended will result in ZERO response on ailerons, and the 3/8" high rates are a joke. They too are insufficient.

You need 1/2" low rates, and 1" high rates on ailerons, about the same on elevator (but with expo), and rudder...well I fly with full deflection in all modes (I like rudder, and tons of it)
I CA'd it back together enough to get a flight out of it. It was flying great, about mid-flight, the horizontal stab snapped in two (it was damaged from previous crash) I literally had a V-tail, and the right horizontal stab and elevator was flapping like wings on a bird. All my friends thought it was a done deal. OH no...I was determined not to lose this bird. With the horizontal stab folded I actually brought it around, and set it down in a perfect three point landing smooth as glass. All my flying buddies were looking at me with their mouths hanging open. One of the guys said he wished he had that on video, because no one would have believed it. It was a miracle.

I didnt tell them, but honestly, It was still controllable surprisingly. I had a reasonable amount of elevator control even with all the flapping. I think they were more puckered than I was.

I took the broken hulk back home, and cut the broken horizontal stab out, cut the covering off the wings, rebuilt both wing tips, straightened the wing tube, built a new horizontal stab, and recovered it to match the original color scheme. You cant tell it was ever busted up except for a scuff on the cowl, and the Red is a little off shade.

Now...on to the flying ability....

WOW WHAT AN AIRPLANE!!! This thing flys 100 times better than ANY of the other planes in this size range like the Mini Funtana, Mini Edge, or even the Brio.
Dont worry about it not slowing down. Even at 26oz, it floats like a feather. I was absolutly shocked at how it floats. Coming in for a landing is fantastic. No odd stall charectoristics, no wing rock in harriers. ROCK SOLID. It hovers great. Almost like hovering a foamy. Spins are good, but do require slight opposite controls for exit. KE has a little pull to canopy, but nothing that cant be mixed out. Inverted flight is smooth, and neutral. If you program spoilerons into it, it will do GEORGEOUS perfectly vertical harrier/elevators.

I love the plane. It flys as good as it looks. I HIGHLY recommend this thing to any of you guys that are tired of the poor flying planes this size. Its fantastic.
