I recommend that you not use ailerons for steerage on your approach in windy conditions. Use the rudder to compensate for the wind and use the ailerons to keep the wings level. I am sure you already heard that, though.

Sorry to hear about the crash, but welcome to the club!!!!! Fix the plane! Put it back up and get comfy with the windy approaches.
