Default RE: The Badius Owners Club

Lou, that's a huge motor! there's one farther down that's rated for 1650 watts. THe one I'm planning on using for the chipmunk is rated for up to 1980 watts. ( 55 amps and 36 volts). I'm guessing that you're only gonna need about 800 watts ( ha ha,, ONLY 800 wats) for the p-51 and have tons of panic power to spare. That's even at 8 lbs. When you're ready for that build let me know, or Brent, or Brad. ( actually, Brad's got tons more expierience at this than I do). I'm going way over power on the chipmunk cause I want it to be able to go vertical and accelerate, total WOW effect. THe reason I picked the one I'm going to use is mostly because of the high voltage rating and the LOW kv. Get too high of a KV and you start to limit yourself on what prop size you can use with higher voltages. Remember, the lower the cell count, the more amps you're going to need, more amps = mopre heat and more $ to be able to run. Plus shorter lifespan on parts, batt, motor. Even though my motor is rated for 55 amps, I'm only going to pull around 20 amps at most, but still pull 800+ watts because of the high voltage. The total weight is going to be around 98 ounces, but I'm aiming for 110 ounces of static thrust. Should do the trick to give me the vertical power. I don't want to hover, just climb straight up with a plane that shouldn't be able to.

Mark, I'll do some digging for your prop combo for the Mugi.
