Default RE: The Badius Owners Club

Lou, OK, You asked for it. Looked at the plane. By the way, Lucky ****er. Anyhow, if you really wanted to go with that motor (pricey when there's the one's from united hobbies that I'm gonna use for $60) and you want to keep it simple. I know how you love Thunderpower batts. So, saying you get 4 of the TP 2100 3 cell packs. run two of them in series & then in parrallel. so, you end up with a 6 cell 4200 mah pack, capable of handling 50 amps. So, now, then, if you must use that 1650 watt motor, then use a 4 blade apc 13.8 x 10 prop. You're gonna get some really nice numbers. Now this is based off of using the most similar motor I could find in the calc (nue BAM 2215 motor) and gearing it for the same KV of the dualsky motor. So, here's the numbers, just a quick sample. Static thrust, 133 ounces (8.3 lbs), in flight thrust, 82 ounces (5.125 lbs), pitch speed 55.4mph, 30 amps, almost 600 watts in. Now, this will really haul your plane. Trust me. If you were to go for the full 1650 watts, you'd have to sell your Benz to afford the battery packs and the speed controller. All you really need for this plane to fly is around 6 lbs static thrust, and 3 lbs in flight. That would make it fly terrif, but, with that set-up, Loo-Loo ( that's your plane's name by the way) will go vertical.
