I went to an RC jet rally in the spring, and there were about 40 turbine jets performing. They ranged from $2K to $18K. The BMV composite super bandits were doing knife edge passes at 180mph, 1ft above the ground. High speed dive passes were approx 225mph. A $17K super bandit crashed when the failsafe kicked in. It was shopvac time. I think the quest for speed has taken over. Maybe this will be me next boat? A carbon fiber sonic racing quad cat that does 90-100kph. Not in my budget.
