That is strange. My guess would be that it caused some sort of RF interference that caused the throttle to glitch or something similar.

At any rate, you should unplug the main motor from the ESC when doing that sort of test!


You mentioned that you have a DD tail motor (DD stands for direct drive). I've heard that the DD motor is better than the stock motor, but still wears out pretty quickly (though lasts much longer than stock motors).

I have the dual tail motor mod wired in parallel. I've had that in place for a month or two now, and both motors are still going strong. I think the dual motor mod is better than the DD in my opinion...
