on both the nem and gen when they were new i would remove the plug alittle so i could turn the engine over. and a few times when i replaced the plug i would try to turn the engine over and it was very easily pulled. i would put it back together and see what happens, and the worst case you need a new piston and sleeve which is almost the same price as a new engine, lol.
