Default RE: Phoenix extra 330s 61

Hey tugboat,

I just maidened my Phoenix Extra 330 yesterday, I set mine up more for scale aerobatics than 3d but I think if you build it as light as possible it would 3d great. The only problems I found with this plane were that the cap screws that hold the canopy on will vibrate out almost within the first 60 seconds of the engine being started,I fixed this by putting a thin piece of fuel tubing between the head of the bolt and the washer to act as a spring washer. The second problem is that the supplied control rods although !QUOT!carbon fiber!QUOT! are a bit shoddily made and heavy when assembled, I just got some threaded control rod wire from my hobby shop and run a !QUOT!Z!QUOT!bend on one end and a dubro quick link clevis on the other (simple light and foolproof). I'm running a OS 120 AX with a perry smoke pump setup so its a bit heavier than yours will turn out but it still takes off in about 12-16 feet and comes in to land at a trainer like pace if you want it to, here are a few pics of the plane while I was building it, Ill try and get some pics of the canopy bolts and control linkages today and post them tonight.

Cheers

Weedy
