I have several of the "squadron/signal" books for aircraft. The aircraft books I have date from the 60s & 70s and they do have a lot of pictures and illistrations in them. It should be a good reference book. If you decide to get it, let us know how it is, I also have a HL pershing and am looking to give it a new paint job.
