Default RE: katana 140 engines??

ORIGINAL: mithrandir

I dunno what mine weighed with the OS160 setup.. but it harrier'd OK... and would do a wall with only a little wing drop... actually my 3D trainer!!!!

OS160 with the 18 x 6 and 15% fuel... prolly around 9500 RPM's....
I don't think a gasser will compete with this at this weight.... even with 16 ounces fuel verses 8 ounces

Don't get me wrong... I hate slimers, and the day a gas motor with muffs and battery and ignition module is weight competitive... I am all over that....
I love gas!!!!!

I've owned OS 1.60 engines and they are good and powerful. However, at this stage of my life, I just want something to sport fly and have fun with. 3D maneuvers don't mean much to me. I'm old school and I couldn't keep up with the younger set even if I tried as hard as I could and practiced every day. It just wasn't meant to be that way, if you know what I mean?

Just going to the field, enjoying being outside and fellowshipping with other club members is the main event for me. If the model will do all of the old maneuvers that I am familiar with doing, I'm a happy camper.

For my 3D efforts, what little their are, I use the computer sim or small electric models. I'm just now branching off into smaller glow 3D models. I have no desire to splatter over $2,000 worth of components on the ground when I can do the same maneuvers with much less expensive planes, or no airplane at all when using the sim.

When one is young and enthusiastic, it can be difficult to understand the older folks with an attitude similar to mine. BTDT. And it seems like only yesterday.
