You can do it either way. I installed wooden dowls at the front center section of the wing so the fuse would rest on those dowels instead of the top of the wing (I do this to most ARF's). You can see a slight gap between the fuse and the top of the wing in this picture:
The gap might have been 1/16" and not 1/32" as mentioned earlier.
