You'd do better with smaller engines, like Alex said, the damage to the planes goes up quite a bit as the engine power goes up.

I'm also not sure I understand what you're asking when you said "what happened" above. Do you mean that picture? I think it was taking right after a mid-air between those two planes, though I'm not sure. I used that picture because it was the first I found that showed the plane from a good angle where you could see the shape of the wing and fuse and so on.
