I agree with you. My LHS is a 10 mile drive, often doesn't have what I need, usually has higher prices than I can find online, charges sales tax, and is reluctant to take returns.

In my case I like the guy and understand that he has a hard time making the LHS profitable so I give him my business even if it does cost me a bit more and is less convenient than ordering online.
