If asked by a new flyer, I always recommend (in order) the Sig Kadet LT-40 (If you buy the kit version, consider reducing the dihedral by 1/2), the Hanger 9 Alpha Trainer, or the Tower 40 Trainer. IMHO, I steer people away from the Nexstar because your paying for things you don't need, and it doesn't behave as well as the three listed. There are a lot of people that learn on the Nexstar, but in side by side comparison, it loses.

The only advantage the Nexstar has is the guarantee. If you crash under the instruction of a club instructor at an AMA club field within 60 days of purchase, they will replace. So if you go with the nexstar, make sure you're going to get plenty of instruction within that 60 day window (not likely this time of year).
