Default Initial Setup

I am just getting started in RC airplanes, and have done many hours of reading and research in these boards and other websites. To start out, I purchased a Futaba 9CAP radio system, a Hobbico Avistar 40 ARF and an O.S. ,46LA motor. I also started a field box using the B&D toolbox from Home Depot (Thanks Billy Hell and friends). Are there any warnings / cautions regarding my choices for a first system? (Especially the Avistar as opposed to a Superstar 40 ARF?

P.S. Although I made these choices without consulting a local club/expert, I do plan on seeking the help of a flying club to help me learn how to fly.
