Default RE: Phoenix Extra 330S 60-90 Size

I purchased one of these with the intent of installing a TH-75 but became concerned about being under-powered after reading some of the posts.

Well, unless you want to hang on the prop all day this plane is a very capable sport flyer indeed. I do not intend to use it as a 3D plane. Sport flying was at half throttle most of the time, take-offs were short and simple as were landings. Don't worry about the "freight train" syndrom during landings mentioned in the forums unless you put on a heavy engine. A 14x4W prop will fly it just fine.

Setup: Used supplied hardware;

Dry weight: 7.1 lbs or 3220 gr. I left off the wheel and gear pants to save some weight.

CG: as recommended @ 120mm, no extra weight required, just be creative with your battery location.

Wing loading ~ 23oz/ft2 (don't let that scare you!)

Servos: all standard with ~43 oz-in torque

Engine: New TH-75 with stock muffler, APC 14x4W, 10800rpm, 7.4 lbs thrust (3356gr) at 6500 ft altitude in dry New Mexico air.

Get one and have fun...you will not regret it and you can always over-power later.
