Air in the line from the tank means you have a leak somewhere. The fuel line may have a cut or crack in it, and it can be anywhere, even inside the fuel tank. You'll have to check it carefully. Air in the fuel can cause the engine to go lean, and this can cause damage if it gets too lean. The least that can happen is that the engine becomes difficult to set. The worst is a burned-up engine from too-lean running.
