Guys,
I have one due in around 8 weeks time. I ordered mine at Jetpower after seeing these models close up in the flesh! The lead time is 15weeks at the mo with an extra 2-3 weeks if you take up the stage 1,2,3 pre-build options.
Al is right - the quality is superb.
I had Dorothee send me the construction CD full of pics (typical German kit with no manual a la Airworld!) to see the amount of building required and it is still quite a lot - I'd say the same as the Airworld Hawk. I will pay for their Steps 1,2 and 3 prebuild to give me a big headstart on mine!
Salah in the UAE has posted a very nice set of construction pics so far on his site! Go to
www.jetsoveruae.com and then My Hangar and Skygate Hawk.
Transport is not that big a deal despite the size of this model. The fuse splits in two so that the longest section is the rear at 183cm. The fin can be made easily removeable too.
Weight is my only concern right now. You have to go for the barest install to stay under the 20kg CAA rules we have in the UK and at the WJM type competitions. I'd love a full scale scheme but will probably go Red Arrows to keep things simpler and lighter. For you real scale buffs be aware that the model is a Mk66 as used by the Swiss airforce and not a T1 of the Red Arrows but the differences are minimal.
Anyone in the UK know what is required if, as Al is doing, the model is under 20kg when first built then modded so that it comes in over 20kg? How does the inspection during stages of building apply then as the model is already built?
Planning on a P160 for mine as I have a new one sat in a box, Lipos all round, 8711s all round and the minimum of extras!
Al, get that video tape to me so I can edit/can post some video!!
Rgds,
Mark
