Default ARTF Engine Mount changing

Has anyone got any ideas about changing a pre-fitted engine mount on an ARTF? I've just got a Seagull PC-9 and want to fit my Saito. It doesn't go in the supplied mount and the new mount for the engine doesn't line up with the pre-drilled holes/fittings. But they're close enough to make just drilling again not an option. The best I can come up with is wiggling some more ply up into the fuselage behind the existing firewall and epoxying it in, then filling in the existing holes with more epoxy before re-drilling. And I'll have to fill in the hole for the fuel tank bung as that's way to high for where the carb will be on the 4-stroke. Any ideas for making this task easier will be much appreciated, surely I can't be the first one with this prob.
