Hovering trim question
I bought the CNC elevator upgrade arms after having an original part break while I was assembling the heli. Unfortunately, there was a lot of play between the seesaw and the arm that mates with it so that the swashplate could move several degrees. I flew it like this for quite some time and always had the problems you would expect.
Specifically, when the heli started moving forward and back stick was applied, it kept moving forward. Eventually I would add enough back stick to bring the heli back, but then it took a lot of forward stick to correct it. So back and forth it went.
I've since reverted to OEM parts and it's much better now. However, it still won't trim to stay in basically one spot. I don't expect a helicopter can be trimmed this way, but it's also not consistent in which way it wants to drift. In fact, it's mostly random. There is no play to speak of in the linkages and I've made sure all the ball links can move freely. I always hover pointed into the wind.
Is this a problem or is it normal? It doesn't drift a lot or tend to take off and start flying or anything like that.
