Lazy Tiger P-51
I too had an elevator flutter problem with mine. On the 10th flight one of the elevator halves departed the plane at about 20 feet up and right in front of me. I still had decent control and landed with no problem. The CA hinges had torn out of the horizontal stab, still had pieces of balsa adhered to them. I replaced the hinges, and put in a piece of lite ply on the bulkhead behind the radio compartment with two 1/4 inch holes drilled in it to act as a guide for the pushrods. Before this I could grab the rudder or elevator and move them almost full throw with my hand and watch the pushrods bow and flex. The guide plate fixed the problem, no play at all. I have many, many flights on the plane now. It is one of my favorite "knock-around" planes.
