Not to be the bummer here but, I would make sure the boyfriend actually want to fly first....its $58 to join the AMA which he would most likely have to do,,then there are club dues which range from $30-$200, you should check that too...he probably does have most of the ground equipment...,but there are lots of car guys that have no interest in flying ,much the same as there are flying guys that have no interest in cars.....ask first lilgirl....Rog
I echo this sentiment, find out if he has any interest in flying planes before you surprise him with one.
No matter how you spin it buying a trainer setup is expensive and flying RC planes is a very different hobby than racing RC cars.
