You are new to RC flying and you are going to fly this Giles 202? Have you done any training at all?

Is this Phoenix Giles 202 ??

Are you talking about the joining spar that goes into each of the two wing halves? There is no manual available for viewing other than the writeup here on RCU on the Giles 202 by Phoenix models. This looks like a straight forward ARF wing joining effort here. From what I can see on the RCU review, there is a slot in each of the wing halves at the thickest part of the wing that the wood spar slides into. If this is what you are talking about then this goes into the wing so that the dihedral is UP. See the picture below.
